The spring book fair is coming on May 14 and 15. It will be a BOGO (Buy One Get One free) opportunity. The book fair will be open on Monday, May 14th after school and throughout the day on Tuesday, May 15th.

Current students in grades 2-4 have started their WOLF Reading record sheets for next year. These sheets will be sent home the week of May 14 for recording summer reading. All student sheets for these students need to be returned in August when school resumes. Families of first grade children should read the note attached to Mrs. Farthing's Weekly Howl for changes in their program this year.

Here are some important dates for the rest of the school year (just in case you were wondering):

May 15th...WOLF Reading Awards Assembly (10:30 AM) and PSE Book Fair

May 21st...Fifth Grade Breakfast (9:00 AM)

May 21st...Preschool and Kindergarten Field Day (AM)

May 22nd...Yearbook Signing (9:00 AM) and Field Day Grade 1-5 (1:00 PM)

The PSE PTO needs your help to "hit the ground running" for 2012-2013 activities. Our PTO committees plan and carry out many of the functions that make PSE an exciting and successful learning community. Congratulations to our Sunflower Ambassadors for 2012-2013!  Our student ambassador (nominated by Surina Walia) is Shivali Patel .  Our staff ambassador (nominated by Mrs. Coughlin) is Annie Ashell Purcell . This annual contest is sponsored by the Blue Valley Education Foundation (BVEF) and honors those who exemplify the Blue Valley virtues. 

Summer Library Hours at PSE
Each Wednesday in June, the PSE Library will be open from 12:00-2:00pm. The PTO has worked with our library staff to open the library and allow check-out for PSE students. Please plan to utilize the PSE library this summer! (Note: Students need to be accompanied by parent or responsible caregiver.)

Four 4th grade students from Prairie Star Elementary School formed the team Prairie Star Imagineers and competed in the Kansas Statewide Tournament and Celebration on March 31, 2012 at Tongonoxie, KS. Akshay, Sam, Thomas and Alex won 2nd place medals.

The Books and Breakfast mornings in our school library have been hits with our families this year.  Big smiles are always present as children share the love of reading with their parents.
