BVHS Basketball Game...You're Invited:

Do you have any old keys? Here's a new recycling project being hosted and organized by Mrs. Thurlow and her second grade students. Please send all old keys to Prairie Star Elementary by Wednesday, February 10. There will be a collection container in the main entry hallway of the school. The keys will be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House and recycled at Wabash Iron and Metal. The money raised from the recycling project will go to help the families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Thanks, in advance, for gathering up your old keys!

Important Information about the next paw print!

The 3rd pawprint deadline is approaching quickly. This is not a flexible deadline; it must be made by every student wanting to receive the WOLF READING AWARD. The date is Friday, March 5, 2010. Twenty-one books (21) must be read and correctly recorded by this date to go on with the WOLF READING PROGRAM. Students on the modified plan need to have 12 books read and recorded by this date. Students reaching this goal will then continue reading 4 more books by Thursday, April 1, 2010 to complete the program. Happy reading!

This year, the entire district has changed the Kindergarten Round-Up format just a bit. We need your help in getting this information to families who will have a student for the first time at PSE. We encourage you to share this information via subdivision newsletters, if possible.  

On February 4th (6:30-7:30pm), we will be having a parent information session at Prairie Star. We encourage all future kindergarten parents (for 2010-2011 school year) to attend this session to learn about the different kindergarten options and to share their preferences for full day vs. half day kindergarten. Additionally, during this parent-only meeting we will ask all families to sign up for a time slot to attend the actual student visitation day in April.

On April 16, we will be having a traditional Kindergarten Round-Up session where children are invited to spend an hour in our kindergarten classrooms while parents complete the necessary paperwork and enrollment forms. Two sessions will be offered: 9:30-11:00 or 1:00-2:30. (There will be no school for current kindergarten students across the district on this day in order to allow classrooms to be visited by incoming kindergarten students.)

The Blue Valley district office is working to keep families informed about current health issues in the schools.  Please check the page listed on the left side menu, titled "Important Health Bulletins", to keep up to date on health and safety in Blue Valley.

Kindest Kansas Citian Contest

Students annually participate in this essay contest.  The rules and forms are given to students by the counselor, but an extra set is attached below. 

All Early Release Days are on a Tuesday. Students are dismissed at 2:00 PM.

April 6th and 20th

 May 4th

Students should arrive no sooner than 8:15 AM, when teachers are available for supervision.  At dismissal time, students should not take out or use electronics (cell phones, MP3 players, games) until they are in their cars or on the bus.  Eliminating these distractions will make the dismissal process much smoother, faster and safer.
