v The Web site for the University of Kansas Medical Center has excellent resources for students who are interested in medical careers. Do take time to check out this virtual classroom on the web. v The calendar section of this Web site lists all of the college admissions representatives that visit our high school. Check out the opportunities for junior visit days on college campuses. v Like Physics! Walter Lewin, 71, a physics professor at MIT has fantastic lectures which are on videotape. They are on the Open Courseware of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. You simply must see this. Course videos are available in mathematics and other content areas as well. The entire curriculum can be viewed and downloaded. High school courses in AP Biology, Physics and Calculus are available for you to view. v Yale University has open courses for students in the areas of Astronomy, English, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology and Religious Studies. You can view lecture presentations. v This is a helpful Web site on how to select your high school courses and create a solid academic high school portfolio. v U.S. News Presents: 2009 College and University Rankings v Parent Presentation - Many parent presentations will be available throughout the year for students and parents covering high school planning and preparing for post secondary education. Topics will include the high school transcript, testing (PLAN, ACT, SAT, AP), course selection and basic college information. Dates for 2010-2011 will be announced in September. v The Blue Valley School District will host a college fair sponsored by the Great Plains Association of College Admissions Counselors. The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 11 from 1-3 p.m. in the gymnasium of Blue Valley West High School. Representatives from the military academies, ROTC program sponsors, and financial aid assistance from JCCC, KU and K-State will be in attendance. The list of participating colleges will be posted once we receive the information from GPACAC. Download postcard in the attachments at the bottom of this page. v The Senior Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony is scheduled for May 12, @ 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Award recipients and their parents will be invited to attend this event. Refer to the " senior information " section of this Web site. v Registration and fee payment for the Advanced Placement Exams for 2010 will take place late January and early February. The approximate cost will be $86.00. The deadline date for payment is February 26 . Mrs. Friend is the Advanced Placement Coordinator.
